Tiffany and Nick had their wedding at The National Aviary, on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA. I looooove photographing weddings at the Aviary, it’s a really dynamic place for a wedding. Before the wedding, which was performed by the groom’s sister (sweet!), Tiffany and Nick saw each other for the first time at the Inn on the Mexican War Streets, which is where I plan to move when I win the lottery. Gor-geous. The happy couple are both in med school and share a little apartment around the corner. Their adventures in the medical world are taking them to Nashville soon, so we used their “first look” session as an opportunity to prance gleefully around the Mexican War Streets so they could take a little piece of their neighborhood with them. It turned out to be a great place for portraits and prancing, and I hope they look back on these photos years down the line and remember their block and their time together in Pittsburgh. You know, once they hit the big time.

“A day spent without the sight or sound of beauty, the contemplation of mystery, or the search of truth or perfection is a poverty-stricken day; and a succession of such days is fatal to human life.” - Lewis Mumford

Jess and Evan share a kiss on their wedding day in beautiful Bucks County, PA. Bucks County in the spring is such a beautiful place to have a wedding, tiny old towns and beautiful barns, winding roads and streams and the Delaware River have all inspired world renowned artists and many a romance.
Two of my favorite Bucks County artists also happen to be quite in love, painters George and Emily Thompson. The two met in New York where they were both working as illustrators and designers, and eventually moved to Bucks County to live the dream. They live in a cool old house right outside of Doylestown and have a little carriage house (kind of a club house) where they have group drawing sessions with one of the most talented and kind groups of painters and drawers in the area. They also make ink in a very labor intensive process with the black walnuts that grow on a tree in their back yard, which I think is kind of awesome. You can check out George’s art here and you can check out Emily’s art here. I am in love with their use of color…
Pittsburgh, PA - Marta and Phil kiss in a treasured tree of Marta’s childhood. A wedding with both vintage and contemporary inspirations, this was not a wedding to be missed. Marta’s Lebanese background brought amazing traditions to the table that I had never seen before, and if you’ve never been caught in the swirling circle of dancers that a Lebanese wedding inspires, then you have a new thing to add to your bucket list. See another favorite photo of their wedding day here.
Yellow eyed cat in black screened window, in white clapboard farmhouse on green Pennsylvania hillsides, shadows by my best boys, sun by the star we whirl around and with which we mark our birthday years, gravity from the moon and earth that pull these tides and make or wreck moods across these black crow ‘lectric wires that carry these 0’s and 1’s from me to you.
